Dusk To Dawn Microadventure

SORRY ALL PLACES NOW GONE!

The Mission: Escape the hustle and grind of urban life without needing to spend huge amounts of time or money.

I am making a Youtube video to show that you can have short, simple adventures that are easy to plan and execute.

All the information you need is on this page.

Part of the point of this is to step into the unknown so please don’t request any more information.

This is an opportunity to get outside, connect with new people and sleep under the stars.

Make sure you read all of the information below fully before committing to attending.

Who Is It For?

Anyone over the age of 18 who is up for adventure!

You will need to be medically fit and healthy enough for a 2 hour hike and a night sleeping outdoors.

DOGS
If you have a well trained dog you are welcome to bring them along.

They must be fine with other dogs and farm animals (there are often cattle roaming where we camp).

It’s also advisable they are used to camping out overnight.

When Is It?

Date: Friday, 8th September 2023

Start Time: 1800

Finish Time: 0800 Saturday

Location: Wendover, Aylesbury (Exact location will be emailed to you when you sign up)

How Does It Work?

We will depart at 6pm for a 2 hour hike (easy walking) to the camping spot.

Along the way we will stop for a wild swim in a local lake.

The evening will be spent having some drinks, hanging out and enjoying the views across the Chilterns.

After a night sleeping out it is a short 20 minute walk back to the start.

What You Need?

You are only out for a short period so you don’t need to go crazy buying kit.

When it comes to bigger items like tents and sleeping bags you can always beg, borrow and steal from friends for the night.

Clothing

Basically, think of what you would wear out on a long walk plus a few extra bits and you can’t go far wrong.

  • Trainers
  • Trousers/shorts/gym leggings
  • T-shirt
  • Warm top
  • Warm jacket
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Hat
  • Swimming attire (for wild swimming)

The night can get cold, so make sure you have enough to keep warm.

Rucksack

Something that is big enough to hold your kit and comfortable to walk with is really all that you need.

Sleeping Bag

A decent sleeping bag (or a poor one but bring lots of layers to wear!).

Sleeping/Roll Mat

This is VERY important for a comfy night on the ground whether you’re in a tent or not. You can get away with using a yoga mat for this.

Tent

It’s going to be good weather so whatever you can get hold of will work fine.

Bivvy System

This is a similar system to what is used in the military and adds the advantage of sleeping under the stars. It is essentially a waterproof bag that goes over your sleeping bag. Here is an example: Alpkit Bivvy Systems

Extra Kit

  • Torch
  • Bin bags
  • Toilet roll

Food & Water

You will need dinner, and potentially breakfast (although we will be finished by roughly 0800).

This is completely up to you, but something that is easy to prepare is probably the best option.

Here are just a few ideas:

  • Sandwiches or wraps
  • Snacks: fruit, cereal bars, power bars, trail mix or some chocolate
  • If you have a gas cooker for boiling water then dehydrated camping meals are great

In terms of water, please bring a minimum of 2 litres with you.

You are also welcome to bring your alcoholic tipple of choice to drink whilst watching the sun go down.

How To Join? (IMPORTANT)

If you would like to come enter your name and email below BUT before you do please read these points carefully:

  • ONLY enter your details if you are 100% committed to coming along. If you do not turn up you will be in the sin bin for any events we run in future!
  • We will be leaving at 1800 sharp on Friday so please arrive early and be ready to go. Sadly we can't wait for anyone running late.
  • This is going to be filmed for a YouTube video so by coming along you accept that you will be in the video.
  • You are responsible for your personal health and safety, this is not an ‘official event’. It’s a get together to hang out and make a fun video.
  • Do not send through questions. The point of adventure is to step into the unknown and there is more than enough information on this page.
