WHAT I'VE REALISED ABOUT LIFE AT 40…
In my 20's and 30's I fell into a mindset of ‘if I can just…’.
Work. Fitness. Relationships.
If I can just…
Earn a certain amount. Achieve a certain goal. Get to a certain place.
Then life would be exactly as I want it.
It's a lie.
There is no 'certain' amount, goal or place that solves your problems.
You are trying to win a competition in your head. But NOTHING can make up for what you lose by taking that attitude.
When you're rushing to reach the future, you are missing the most crucial thing of all.
The day to day.
It's a cliche for a reason – it's true!
5% of life is BIG milestone moments. 95% is what you are doing RIGHT NOW today.
This is your life.
There will always be a 'to do' list, always 'something else' and that's okay.
There is no finish line.
Accepting this has changed my perspective on life.
It doesn't mean you stop setting goals and striving for things, but it gives you permission to slow down.
To enjoy the moment to moment.
In truth it's all you have because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
